...."Als die Hanke Brüder mich gefragt haben, ein neues Werk für ihr spannendes Ensemble zu schreiben, kamen mir gleich mehrere Ideen in den Kopf. Zuallererst merkte ich wie "farbenfroh" diese "Boy Band" der Klassik ist. Nicht nur instrumental ist die Mischung spannend. Auch stilistisch sind sie alle viel flexibler als die meisten Musikgruppen. Also musste ich ihnen etwas ganz Besonderes auf den Leib schneidern. Jeder kennt die Vier Jahreszeiten. Dann gibt es die Planeten von Gustav Holst. Aber: Alle Kontinente musikalisch und vor allem emotional zu vertonen, das hat sich noch keiner getraut. Musik ist von Grund auf emotionell. Hauptgedanke bei "SEVEN CONTINENTS" ist das "Gefühl" von z.B. Asien, Europa, Australien oder der Antarktis wachzurufen."
Rund um die Welt und retour
Aleksey IGUDESMAN traut sich nicht nur selbst etwas, er traut auch den vier HANKE Brüdern eine Menge zu. "7 CONTINENTS" musikalisch höchst anspruchsvoll, ein lustvolles Oevre voller Anspielungen, Zitate, Anleihen von den großen der Musikgeschichte, ein wirbelnder Streifzug durch Epochen, Kulturen und Stile von A wie Aborigines bis Z wie ZZ Top. Beginnend mit ANTARCTICA, der klirrenden Kälte der Antarktis mit brechenden Eisblöcken und groovenden Eisschollen springt Igudesman in die Hitze von AUSTRALIEN, folgt dem Didgeridoo mit der täuschend ähnlich klingend Tuba, malt mit Funk und Pop eine farbenfrohes Gemälde des Riesenkontinents, setzt über nach EUROPA, einer gigantischen, musikalischen Wanderschaft durch Jahrhunderte, von Gregorianischen Chorälen, Folklore, Walzer, Flamenco, Operette bis Nationalhymnen, mit unerwarteten wie witzigen Einschlüssen von Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, Tschaikowski, Beethoven, Strauss, Chopin, Grieg, Rossini, Bartok. Symphonien, Präludien, Fugati, schottische Trinklieder, Csarda, Wiener Walzer, nichts ist vor Igudesmans Ironie und Virtuosität sicher und wird gekonnt ins Spiel gebracht. "Ein mosaikhaftes Gesamtbild Europas, das zu jeder Zeit und in jedem Winkel untrennbar mit Musik verbunden ist entsteht im Kopf des Zuhörers, besser noch, in seinem Herzen", so Igudesman.
Nach langem Warten sind die 7 Kontinente nun komplett und man kann am 29. Oktober bei der Uraufführung gespannt sein, wie die Weltreise in 80 Minuten erklingen wird!
.."When the Hanke brothers asked me to create a new work for their exciting ensemble, I had several ideas in mind. First of all I noticed how "colorful" this classical "boy band" is. The mix is not only exciting in terms of instruments. They are also stylistically much more flexible than most music groups. So I needed to create something very special, tailor-made for them. Everyone knows the “Four Seasons” by Vivaldi. Then there are “The Planets” by Gustav Holst. However, no one has yet dared to set all the continents to music, not just musically, but above all emotionally. Music is fundamentally emotional. The main idea of "SEVEN CONTINENTS" is to awaken the "feeling" of Asia, Europe, Australia or Antarctica."
Around the world and back again
Aleksey IGUDESMAN doesn’t only have confidence in himself; he also has a great deal of confidence in the four HANKE brothers. “7 CONTINENTS” is musically extremely demanding, a passionate work full of innuendos, quotes, borrowings from the great masters, a whirlwind expedition through eras, cultures and styles from A for Aborigines to Z for ZZ Top. Starting with ANTARCTICA, the bone-chilling cold of the Antarctic, with breaking ice-blocks and grooving ice floes, Igusdesman then jumps to the heat of AUSTRALIA, tracking down the didgeridoo with the deceptively similar sounding tuba and painting a colorful picture of the giant continent with funk and pop. He then continues over to EUROPE, a gigantic musical migration through centuries, from Gregorian chant through folklore, the waltz, flamenco, operetta and national anthems, with unexpected and amusing inclusions of Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Chopin, Grieg, Rossini and Bartok. Symphonies, preludes, fugues, Scottish drinking songs, Czardas, Viennese waltzes – nothing is safe from Igudesman’s irony and virtuosity and is skillfully brought into play. “A mosaic-like overall picture of Europe, one that at any time and in any place is inseparably bound to music, forms in the listener’s mind or, even better, in his heart,” says Igudesman.....

Multitalent Aleksey Igudesman, bekannt als Violinvirtuose, hat sich nebenbei auch als Komponist, Dirigent, Schauspieler und Filmemacher einen Namen gemacht. Dabei hat er mit vielen Musikgrößen wie Bobby McFerrin, Billy Joel, Oscar-Preisträger Hans Zimmer und den StargeigerInnen Julian Rachlin, Janine Jansen, Roby Lakatos, Gidon Kremer, Vadim Repin, Dmitry Sitkowetsky und Viktoria Mullova zusammengearbeitet und musiziert.
Aleksey Igudesmans Kompositionen werden weltweit aufgeführt, unter anderem von Orchestern wie dem Chicago Symphony Orchestra, den New York Philharmonics, dem Seattle Symphony Orchestra, den Luzerner Sinfonikern, der Kremerata Baltica, der Hong Kong Sinfonietta, und den Taiwan Philharmonics, oft mit ihm selbst am Dirigentenpult stehend.
Aleksey Igudesmans Arrangements, Kompositionen und sein Geigenspiel sind auch auf Soundtracks von Disney’s The Road to El Dorado und den Kinofilmen Spanglish und Sherlock Holmes 1 und 2, sowie Madagascar 3 zuhören. Im Jahr 2010 schrieb er zusammen mit Hans Zimmer die Filmmusik zu Jealous of the Birds, die auf dem International Rhode Island Film Festival den Preis für die beste Filmmusik erhielt.
Sein Filmregiedebüt Noseland mit Julian Rachlin, John Malkovich und Sir Roger Moore wurde bisher auf 14 Festivals auf der ganzen Welt gezeigt und gewann dieses Jahr den Preis der "Most Entertaining Documentary" auf dem Miami Doc International Film Festival.
Mit dem virtuosen Pianisten Hyung-ki Joo – als IGUDESMAN & JOO – spielt er die weltweit erfolgreichen Shows "A Little Nightmare Music", "And Now Mozart" und "BIG Nightmare Music" mit Symphonie- und Kammerorchestern.
